The role of the Head of Compliance is to lead, develop and maintain an effective compliance framework that ensures TVS Supply Chain Solutions meets all regulatory, customer, and internal governance requirements. This includes ownership of the Integrated Management System (IMS), oversight of audit and assurance processes and acting as the organisation’s subject-matter expert on compliance, risk management, business continuity and ISO standards.
The Head of Compliance will provide strategic direction, specialist guidance and operational support to ensure that compliance is fully embedded across logistics, warehousing, transport and corporate functions. The postholder will work closely with senior leadership to identify and mitigate risk, build resilience, improve operational standards, drive continual improvement, and ensure TVS SCS remains compliant, competitive and trusted by customers and regulators.
This role has responsibility for compliance across our UK and European network and will lead a team responsible for information security, business continuity, QMS, EHS, Sustainability and CSV.
Job Responsibilities
- Monitor, maintain and continually improve integrated management systems to ensure ongoing certification to ISO standards providing assurance to business and customers (ISO9001/ISO14001/ISO27001/ISO22301/ISO45001, CE+).
- Manage internal, external, customer and regulatory audit commitments, and lead corrective and preventative actions resulting from non-conformance, incident or near miss.
- Develop, manage, communicate and enforce compliance policies, procedures, controls and best practices.
- Monitor and advise on legal compliance in regulated areas such as Environmental, Health and Safety, Data and Cyber security.
- Improve resilience, conduct continuity and incident management activities, manage, reduce and mitigate risk whilst aligning with the company’s strategic direction.
- Support tender and bid activity, review and support contractual negotiations and support in customer onboarding.
- Seek out and drive continual improvement opportunities to streamline process, promote efficiencies and reduce business or process risk.
Qualifications and Skills
Essential
- Significant experience in building, managing and improving ISO9001 management systems.
- Strong working knowledge of multiple ISO standards (9001, 14001, 27001, 22301, 45001) and experience coordinating certification and surveillance audits.
- Proven experience leading compliance, quality or risk functions in a logistics, supply chain, manufacturing, defence, or similarly regulated environment.
- Experience successfully applying quality and continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, RCA, 5 Whys, FMEA, process mapping).
- Demonstrable ability to influence, coach and communicate effectively at all organisational levels, including senior leadership.
- Experience conducting investigations, managing non-conformances and delivering robust corrective and preventative actions.
- Strong problem solving, analytical and critical-thinking abilities with the capability to interpret complex regulatory requirements.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise effectively and take ownership of organisational compliance performance.
- Willingness to undertake UK and occasional overseas travel.
Desirable
- Experience in business continuity, incident management, resilience planning or risk management frameworks.
- Understanding of data protection, GDPR, cyber security best practice and IT governance controls.
- Experience supporting bids, tenders and contract reviews in a commercial environment.
- Knowledge of environmental compliance, sustainability reporting or ESG-related standards.
- Professional qualification in compliance, risk or quality (ICA, IRCA, CQI).
- Experience working with or advising operational warehouse/transport environments.
