Description: Since 1949, TVCC has been working with children and youth to help them reach their full potential.

Today, a wide range of services and supports are provided for young people with physical disabilities, communication disorders, developmental delays and autism spectrum disorders to support them in attaining the best available quality of life and health.

In partnership with local and regional agencies, TVCC annually serves more than 11,000 children, youth and their families from birth to age 19 across Southwestern Ontario in over 700 locations.

We are seeking a student to work up to 18.75 hours per week as a Youth Event Leader providing services to youth-aged clients (12-21) with disabilities (i. e., autism spectrum disorder, physical disabilities, communication disorders and/or developmental disabilities).

This fixed term position will begin in September 2026 and end in April 2027.

The designated office will be London.

The successful candidate will report to the Manager, Family and Community Services (FACS) and will work collaboratively with the FACS team to support client engagement in centre and community-based activities.

Some evening and weekend work will be required.

We are interested in hearing from candidates with disabilities who have the ability to direct their own accommodation needs within a workplace setting.

Responsibilities

  • Support the coordination and provision of both virtual and in-person at activities appropriate for youth and their families, e. g., after school, evenings, and weekends, etc.
  • Facilitate participation of TVCC clients in community activities to build life skills.
  • Assist with the development of best practices and evidence informed services (e. g., literature review) and resources for clients and families.
  • Adhere to the deliverables, processes, and guidelines of services for clients.
  • Work with teams to complete all applicable event planning documents and forms.
  • Assist with and provide input for evaluation methods for youth-oriented activities.
  • Provide input on and participate in related youth activities (e. g., Services for Youth, Outcome Measures for Youth, Trailblazers Youth Advisory Council).
  • Provide perspective to TVCC on youth engagement.
  • Complete administrative tasks such as Alaya Care Planning Calendar, year-end event reports or as requested by the FACS manager.

Requirements

  • Enrolment in a related University or College program;
  • Preference will be given to candidates living with a disability;
  • Experience with group facilitation and event planning;
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with or without assistive devices or assistive technology, including the ability to communicate effectively in groups and individually;
  • Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work with minimal supervision independently and in an integrated team;
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft 365, as well as familiarity with social networking tools and video conferencing software (e. g., Teams,);
  • Ability to travel within London and Southwestern Ontario would be considered an asset;
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis.
