The Food and Beverage Lead Auditor is responsible for planning, executing, and reporting on audits of management systems to ensure compliance with relevant standards such as FSSC 22000/ISO 22000 and/or BRC standards. This role involves evaluating organizational processes, identifying areas for improvement and supporting continual improvement initiatives. The Lead auditor works independently or as part of a team to assess client or internal systems, prepare detailed audit reports and provide recommendations based on findings. Performs 3rd party certification audits for US and Canada F&B customers to FSSC, or BRCGS standards. Performs 2nd party quality and/or food safety audits/assessments on behalf of customers and their suppliers. Maintain a schedule of audit activity with customers. Provide timely and accurate reviews of customer corrective action and closure. Maintain appropriate audit credentials and pursue advancement of those credentials and other related credentials as needed. Works closely with Food and Feed Program Manager on Operations related activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Audit Execution: Plan, lead, and conduct internal and external audits in compliance with various food management system requirements.
  • Audit Team Leadership: Coordinate and manage audit teams during on-site assessments.
  • Data & Documentation Review: Analyze business food safety and quality processes and documentation to assess conformity with the food management standards.
  • Reporting: Prepare comprehensive audit reports identifying non-conformities, risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Corrective Actions & Follow-up: Recommend corrective actions and ensure their effective implementation through follow-up audits.
  • Client Communication: Present audit findings to client management and provide guidance on food and quality system improvements.
  • Standards Compliance: Stay up to date with changes in food standards and related regulations.

Working Conditions:

  • Frequent travel required based on client needs (local, domestic, and international).
  • Ability to work with clients using remote methodologies (Microsoft Teams, Zoom, etc).
  • Flexible working hours, including work beyond the typical workweek to meet client deadlines.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field (food related or bioscience discipline) or equivalent auditor credentials.
  • Certified BRC and FSSC Lead Auditor (Exemplar Global or equivalent accredited certification).
  • 3-5 + years in Food and Beverage manufacturing or Quality Assurance (QA).
  • Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) Course (Min 16 Hr HACCP Alliance recognized).
  • 1+ years of experience as a qualified BRCGS or 1+ years of experience FSSC 22000 Lead Auditor.
  • FSSC/SQF/BRCGS Lead Auditor recognized Course (one or more required).
