TUV SUD is looking for an experienced Senior Engineer to join our Electrical Safety team as an offsite engineer to support testing at clients' premises. You will be responsible for helping clients to achieve CE marking, global market access and product compliance for a range of electrical devices. You will have good interpersonal skills, confidence working face-to-face with clients in this customer-facing role and an aspiration to progress as a Product Safety Specialist in a global compliance organisation.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Carrying out electrical safety testing and design assessments at customers' sites and on some occasions within the nearest test lab (either Octagon House in Fareham, or Bearley in Snitterfield).
- Identification of compliance requirements and strategies with the ability to apply these using a pragmatic and common-sense approach.
- Conducting factory inspections where required.
- Compilation of test summaries and reports in support of testing and certification activities.
- Conducting peer reviews of documentation and reports.
- Ensuring the quality and throughput of work and that projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Essential Criteria:
- Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in Electrical/Electronic engineering.
- Electrical safety testing experience, with knowledge of CE marking.
- Good understanding of the IEC Operational documents including CTF process and Technical Committees.
- Knowledge and understanding of Global Market Access requirements for electrical products.
- Good understanding and hands-on experience of electrical/electronic circuits.
- Knowledge of test laboratory quality and operating procedures.
- IT skills using MS Office suite of programs.
- Confident with good interpersonal skills and a commitment to 'get the job done'.
- Comfortable working as part of a team and on own initiative.
- Willing to work off-site at clients' premises and occasional overseas trips.
- Full driving licence.
- Ability to work an ad hoc shift pattern to meet customers' deadlines.
Desirable Criteria:
- Practical experience within a test house environment.
- Working knowledge of regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge of global certification procedures.
- Knowledge of standards including 62368.
- Experience in conducting CIG023 inspections.
