Job Summary
In-service inspection of pressurised equipment, tanks, and piping systems to meet regulatory and customer requirements. Responsible for provision of inspection services to clients in the Norwich region.
Responsibilities
- Drafting and reviewing Written Schemes of Examination (WSE).
- Identifying plant preparation requirements from the WSE.
- Examination of equipment in accordance with the WSE.
- Undertake NDT – ultrasonic thickness checks, and magnetic particle & dye penetrant flaw detection.
- Coordination of third-party NDT providers for extensive requirements or specialist techniques.
- Preparation of clear written reports supported by photographs.
- Assessment of deterioration.
- Reviewing design calculations and grading defects.
- Coordinating repairs.
- Participation in Risk Based Inspection studies.
Qualifications
- HNC/Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Incorporated Engineer status (desirable).
Experience and Skills
- Mechanical Engineering background.
- Understanding of engineering principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Ability to accurately follow procedures.
- Courage to make (and defend) difficult decisions.
- Good interpersonal skills, and the capability to work independently.
- Ambition to learn and progress.
- Understanding of fabrication processes and NDT is desirable.
- Experience of chemical and/or oil & gas industry is desirable.
