We are seeking highly motivated and dynamic nuclear engineers with a minimum of 5 years’ experience to join our collaborative south of England Nuclear Team based across our Bristol, London and Great Yarmouth offices. The successful candidates will lead the delivery of technical engineering and safety case for major projects within the nuclear power generation sector. Such projects include major plant modifications to support lifetime extension at Sizewell B, defueling and post defueling at Hinkley Point B, safety case documentation for SMR Generic Design Assessments, commissioning activities at Hinkley Point C and hazards safety case production for Sizewell C.

This role provides an opportunity to be part of an exciting, dynamic, and rapidly growing nuclear team across the south of England. Typical responsibilities may include:

  • Leading the delivery of major nuclear safety cases.
  • Providing specialist technical input and advice to resolve complex problems.
  • Facilitating hazard identification and optioneering workshops.
  • Production of formal technical reports, safety cases and other project deliverables on time and to budget.
  • Verification of major nuclear safety cases and other technical deliverables.
  • Implementation of modifications to plant, including:
  • Undertaking plant obsolescence assessments.
  • Authoring specifications for new equipment.
  • Reviewing design proposals and producing design substantiation reports.
  • Authoring testing and commissioning strategies and functional test procedures.
  • Management of projects, project teams and interfacing with clients.
  • Bid proposal management and other business development activities.
  • This role offers the opportunity to support the development of wider company initiatives, such as industry networking and learning. The role also provides the potential to support other Risktec sectors such as oil and gas, clean energy, transport, defence, and conventional power in the future.

    Key Requirements:

    • A proven track record in maintaining engineering systems, commissioning new plant and/or delivering nuclear safety cases.
    • Previous experience working with EDF is desirable e.g. EDF AV3 or AV2 qualification (or equivalent).
    • A drive to ensure successful delivery and continuous client satisfaction by delivering pragmatic and proportionate solutions.
    • The ability to work as part of a team, as well as to work independently where needed.
    • Clear communication skills, both verbal and written, and strong organisational skills.
    • Strong analytical and logical skills.
    • The ability to travel within the UK.
