Responsibilities

  • Leading and delivering power plant integrity assessments.
  • Developing risk‑based inspection strategies.
  • Providing technical support and advice to clients.
  • Assessing inspection results, i.e. making run / repair / replace decisions.
  • Producing formal technical reports and other project deliverables on time and to budget.
  • Creating proposals and tender return documents and developing new business.
  • Mentoring and development of less experienced integrity engineers.
  • Maintaining up‑to‑date knowledge of standards, legislation and good practice.
  • The role will involve site visits, both within the UK and abroad, to meet project requirements.

Experience

  • Integrity assessment of defective power plant components – low and high temperature (e.g. reverse‑code calculation, fracture mechanics, finite element analysis).
  • Legislative compliance e.g. the UK PSSR.
  • Power plant inspection (e.g. steam and water pressure parts, boiler tube surveys, support surveys), with an understanding of materials selection, damage/degradation mechanisms and life assessment.
  • Power plant mechanical engineering.
  • Power plant operations and maintenance.
  • Working in conventional power and clean energy sectors (primarily CCGT, Biomass and Energy from Waste plants).
  • Excellent organisational, problem solving, communication and report writing skills.

Qualifications and Experience

  • BEng/MEng degree or equivalent in engineering related topic, preferably mechanical engineering.
  • Chartered Engineer or working towards professional registration is desirable.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
