As part of the TUV family, Risktec Resourcing have been tasked to assist our sister company TUV Rheinland Industrial Services (TRIS) in recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer for our Teesside office.
Overview
We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer with a strong design focus to support petrochemical and process industry projects. This is a mid-level role, suited to an engineer who has moved beyond graduate level and is developing toward senior engineer and chartership. You will work on real engineering problems under the guidance of senior engineers, with increasing responsibility as your capability grows.
Responsibilities
- Carry out mechanical design work for static equipment such as pressure vessels, heat exchangers, columns, and drums.
- Perform pipe stress analysis for piping systems, with senior support on complex cases.
- Support fitness-for-service (FFS) assessments for existing piping and static equipment.
- Prepare mechanical calculations, datasheets, and technical reports.
- Review vendor drawings and documents against project requirements.
- Work closely with process, piping, inspection, and integrity disciplines.
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Typically 3–7 years’ experience in mechanical engineering within petrochemical, chemical, or process plant environments.
- Working knowledge of: Static equipment and pressure vessels, Pipe stress analysis, Fitness-for-service concepts.
- Experience using engineering software such as CAESAR II, AutoPIPE, PV Elite, COMPASS, or similar.
- Familiarity with relevant codes and standards (e.g. ASME, EN, API).
