Job Summary
We are looking for a detail-oriented and organized Assistant Accountant to join our friendly and supportive Finance Team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for day-to-day ledger activities and will provide financial support and guidance, delivering a professional and customer-focused service to both internal and external stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have experience working as part of a team, a good understanding of double-entry bookkeeping, and proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
You will be organized, able to work accurately to deadlines, and committed to providing a high standard of customer service.
Job Description
- Managing Finance mailboxes and responding to queries in a timely manner.
- Processing high volumes of invoices onto the invoice register.
- Checking invoices for errors, investigating discrepancies, and returning incorrect invoices to suppliers where necessary.
- Maintaining positive and professional relationships with suppliers and customers.
- Chasing outstanding debts with full support from the Accounts Receivable (AR) team.
- Following up with internal stakeholders to ensure invoices are entered into the system in a timely manner.
- Reconciling supplier statements and investigating any discrepancies.
- Processing self-billing and PAYE invoices.
- Supporting the Payments Team during periods of annual leave and other absences.
- Supporting the Senior Accountant and finance team with ad hoc duties as required.
What we expect of you?
Essential Requirements
- AAT qualification (or equivalent), or a minimum of two years' experience in a similar accounting/finance role.
- Good understanding of double-entry bookkeeping.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and meet deadlines.
- Customer-focused approach with good communication skills.
- Right to work in the UK.
Desirable
- Experience using SAP.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
