Responsibilities

  • Facilitate processes to identify, assess, and mitigate risks in accordance with company Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) expectations, as well as industry legislation, standards, and safety policies.
  • Offer expert guidance and operational support for technical safety matters, including the management of change processes.

Ensure that operational controls for major accident hazards are effective, monitored, reported, and evaluated for their impact on Safety and Environmentally Critical Elements (SECEs).

  • Provide assistance to functional and operational teams on technical safety concerns as needed.
  • Contribute to the development, review, and approval of safety studies, plans, schedules, and programs while advising stakeholders on related matters.
  • Support the review, amendment, and audit process for Safety Cases.
  • Participate in risk-based activities such as HAZIDs, HAZOPs, and HIRAs as needed.
  • Stay knowledgeable about the Safety Case Regulations and relevant legislation updates, ensuring their practical implementation.
  • Promote awareness and understanding of major accident safety/risk management across the company through workforce engagement initiatives; this may include offshore travel to deliver safety-related messages.
  • Collaborate to ensure reporting, investigation, and implementation of lessons learned from process safety incidents.

Requirements

  • Degree in Safety and Risk Management or equivalent subject.
  • At least 7 years experience in risk based activities in the oil and gas industry.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of safety cases and UK Offshore Major Accident Regulator (OMAR) guidelines and compliance requirements.
  • An understanding of DSEAR assessments and HAC.
  • Excellent project management, planning, execution and delivery along with excellent analytical, report writing and presentation skills.
