Make a Real Impact as a Sociology Tutor. Are you a passionate educator, making a difference in the lives of students with SEN or SEHM needs? We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Sociology tutor. You’ll provide personalised 1:1 support for students at GCSE Level. These in-person sessions in Hackney offer the chance to work closely with students, helping them build skills and confidence in a supportive and tailored learning environment.

Day(s) and Time(s): Monday, Tuesday and Friday afternoons (during school hours)

Hours: Up to 4 hours per week

Subject and Level: GCSE Sociology

Pay: £35 p/h

Start date: Immediate

What You'll Do

  • Develop and deliver tuition programmes in small groups or 1:1
  • Provide tuition that is appropriate for the individuals/groups needs and study level
  • Assessing any barriers to student’s learning and working to overcome these
  • Monitoring student progress and producing reports
  • Creating a positive and supportive learning environment
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of the curriculum content and qualification frameworks you’re providing subject tuition in
  • Regularly reporting updates to the Tuition Programmes Manager

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Sociology or a closely related subject
  • Qualified Teaching Status Certificate (QTS)
  • Sociology at A level (or equivalent)
  • 2+ years of tutoring / teaching experience
  • An ability to adapt lessons to suit different learning styles and needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The right to be self employed in the UK
