Make a Real Impact as a Functional Skills Tutor. Are you a passionate educator, making a difference in the lives of students with SEN needs? We are looking for experienced and dedicated tutors. You’ll provide personalised, 1:1 support in Functional Skills English and Maths for Level 2 students. These online and in-person sessions in Hackney offer the chance to work closely with students, helping them build skills and confidence in a supportive and tailored learning environment.

This job is in-person in the Hackney area.

  • Day(s): Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday
  • Hour(s): 16 hours per week / 4 hours per day
  • Time(s): 10:30am onwards
  • Subject and Level: Functional Skills Level 2 English and Maths
  • Start date: As soon as possible
  • Rate of pay: £35 p/h

What You'll Do

  • Provide 1:1 tuition that is appropriate for the individual's needs and study level
  • Plan engaging lessons tailored to the unique needs of each student
  • Provide targeted support for students with SEN and/or SEMH
  • Assess barriers to learning and create a positive and supportive learning environment
  • Monitor progress, produce reports and adapt teaching strategies to achieve measurable outcomes
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the curriculum content and qualification frameworks you're providing subject tuition in
  • Regularly report updates to the Tuition Programmes Manager

We're looking for someone who has:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or Specialist SEN Training
  • 2+ years of tutoring / teaching experience
  • Experience working with students with ADHD
  • Experience working with students with ODD
  • An ability to adapt lessons to suit different learning styles and needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The right to be self employed in the UK
