Make a real impact as an Academic Mentor. Are you a patient, resilient and experienced tutor who can build strong relationships with young people? We are looking for a dedicated 1:1 mentor to support secondary students. This role is about more than academic support. You’ll use your GCSE Maths expertise to help the students build confidence, re‑engage with learning and work towards their qualifications, while providing consistent, supportive mentoring. We’re looking for someone who is calm, reliable and able to adapt their approach to meet individuals’ needs, whilst creating a safe and motivating learning environment.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree
  • 1+ years of tutoring / teaching experience
  • Experience working with students with SEN and/or SEMH needs (preferred)
  • An ability to adapt lessons to suit different learning styles and needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The right to be self‑employed in the UK

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop and deliver tuition programmes in small groups or 1:1.
  • Provide tuition that is appropriate for the individual’s/group’s needs and study level.
  • Assess any barriers to students' learning and work to overcome them.
  • Monitor student progress and produce reports.
  • Create a positive and supportive learning environment.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of the curriculum content and qualification frameworks.
  • Report updates regularly to the Tuition Programmes Manager.
