Role Description

This is a part‑time Tutor role based in Leeds, offered on a hybrid basis with a mix of in‑person sessions and work from home for online teaching and lesson preparation. We are looking for tutors, teachers, instructors and subject specialists who can support learners in one or more popular subject areas, including:

Day‑to‑day responsibilities include planning and delivering engaging lessons tailored to individual learner needs, both online and face‑to‑face. The Tutor will assess learner progress, provide constructive feedback, and adapt teaching methods to support different learning styles, ages and abilities. Duties also include preparing learning materials, maintaining accurate records of sessions and outcomes, and communicating regularly with learners and, where appropriate, parents or guardians. The Tutor will use the TutorExtra platform to manage their profile, respond to enquiries, and coordinate lesson schedules.

Qualifications

  • Strong subject knowledge in one or more academic, vocational or specialist areas, with the ability to explain concepts clearly and accurately.
  • Experience in tutoring, teaching, mentoring, coaching or instructing, ideally with the ability to support learners online, in person, or both.
  • Good lesson planning, individualised instruction and progress assessment skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient, supportive and inclusive approach to working with learners of different ages and backgrounds.
  • Comfort using technology, including video conferencing tools, online learning platforms, and basic digital documents or presentation tools.
  • Strong organisational and time‑management skills to manage learners, schedules, lesson preparation and follow‑up tasks.
  • Relevant academic qualifications, such as a degree or equivalent in the subject taught, and/or recognised teaching, tutoring or coaching qualifications are highly beneficial.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, data privacy and professional standards, with willingness to complete any required background checks.
