The Role: We are looking for enthusiastic, nurturing and engaging KS3/4 Maths, English and Science tutors to join our busy team and support students on a 1:1 basis around Cambridge and the surrounding areas. We also have specific needs for in-person KS3/4 English and Maths tutors who can travel to a student based in Cambourne (CB23), and to Melbourn Village College (SG8) for the academic year starting September 2026. This position is Self Employed and requires tutors to work in-person in and around Cambridge, and online if desired, delivering curriculum relevant and appropriate core subject material in a positive and engaging way to students referred through Cambridge Council and local schools.

As a tutor you will be responsible for preparing and delivering each session for your student's academic needs and goals, and the accurate and timely recording of work carried out or set during a tuition session. You will work with our Schools and Council student matching team with the aim of providing tailored and student focused tutoring to engender reengagement with learning, confidence, and stability. Tutors can choose what, and how many, hours they work so the role would suit someone who would like some flexibility in their schedule but also wants to be part of a fun and supportive team.

Responsibilities:

• Delivering 1:1 tuition sessions in person during school hours
• Helping students reengage with learning through respect, understanding and patience
• Clarifying and teaching subject matter
• Assessing student's knowledge on a regular basis
• Presenting a friendly and professional demeanour

Skills and Qualifications:

• A background in education such as tutoring, teaching, or special education (Essential)
• Knowledge and understanding of UK Curriculum and Examinations process (Essential)
• Passion for your subject/s and the ability to share that passion (Essential)
• Excellent communication skills and experience in managing challenging behaviour (Essential)
• Experience, knowledge, and understanding of safeguarding processes and a willingness to undertake Safeguarding and Prevent training on an annual basis (Essential)
• Experience of SEN (Desired)
• Full clean UK Driving Licence (Desired)
• Current Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
• Safeguarding and Prevent Training Certificates
