Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and passionate University Counsellor to join our team on a freelance/part-time basis. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in advising students on university placements, particularly for institutions in the UK, Australia, and US. This role is designed for a dynamic individual with a strong understanding of the application processes, who can provide personalized advice to our students. Experience with university placements in the UK and Australia is essential, while knowledge of US university admissions is a plus. The University Counsellor will work with students on a fee-per-hour basis, providing insights on application strategies, personal statements, entrance exams, scholarships, and university selection.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert advice and guidance to students applying to universities in the UK, Australia, and US.
- Assist students in identifying suitable universities based on their academic profile, career aspirations, and personal preferences.
- Help students craft compelling personal statements and essays tailored to specific university applications.
- Offer guidance on the completion of university application forms, including UCAS (for UK universities) and similar platforms for Australia and the US.
- Advise on the preparation and completion of entrance exams (e.g., IELTS, SAT, ACT) as required by target universities.
- Counsel students on available scholarships, financial aid, and other funding opportunities.
- Keep abreast of university application deadlines and assist students in meeting these critical dates.
- Provide feedback on interview preparation for specific universities that require them.
- Collaborate with our internal team to ensure smooth communication and follow-up with students and their families.
- Support the development of partnerships with university agents or placement agencies to streamline admissions processes and explore commission-based opportunities.
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a University Counsellor or Admissions Consultant with a focus on the UK, Australia, and US university systems.
- Education: Bachelor's degree (required); a degree from a university in the UK, Australia, or US is a plus.
- Knowledge: Deep knowledge of the university application processes, entrance exams, scholarships, and student visa requirements for the UK, Australia, and US.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to build rapport with students and parents.
- Advisory Skills: Experience providing one-on-one counseling sessions, creating tailored university application plans, and offering detailed feedback on applications and essays.
- Flexibility: Ability to work remotely and manage a flexible schedule.
- Preferred: Experience as a university agent or working directly with placement agencies to secure university contracts.
