About the Role: The Finance Assistant will provide day-to-day transactional support to the Finance team, ensuring that financial information is processed accurately, efficiently and on a timely basis.

The role will support the Management Accountant, Finance Operations Accountant and Finance Director across the wider finance function, taking ownership of routine finance activities and ensuring that the underlying financial records are complete, accurate and well maintained.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is organised, numerate and detail-focused, with a willingness to learn and develop their accounting knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

Purchase & Sales Ledger

  • Maintain the automated PI/PO matching system and process generated queries
  • Process non-PO supplier invoices and credit notes.
  • Maintain accurate supplier and customer accounts.
  • Allocate customer receipts and assist with debtor queries.
  • Complete monthly supplier statement reconciliations.

Banking & Payments

  • Post daily bank transactions and complete bank, credit card and Pleo reconciliations.
  • Assist with weekly supplier payment runs.
  • Process authorised ad hoc payments.
  • Investigate and resolve routine discrepancies.

General Finance

  • Process routine finance transactions and journals.
  • Maintain accurate finance system records.
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Maintain finance schedules and supporting documentation.
  • Ensure transactions are correctly coded and processed.

Month-End Support

  • Assist the team with month-end activities.
  • Complete allocated reconciliations and schedules.
  • Ensure invoices and other transactions are processed ahead of month-end.
  • Assist with investigating outstanding or unusual items.
  • Prepare small subsidiary and holding company management accounts

Stock & Operational Support

  • Assist with stock reconciliations and stock counts.
  • Assist with WIP and job-related finance information.
  • Work with operational teams to resolve routine finance queries.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • This role is suitable for someone just starting out in a finance career as full training will be provided, or someone already on the path of AAT or ACCA.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • System orientated with strong Excel skills.
