About the Role
Due to continued growth, we are seeking a motivated and skilled
Engine Builder-Tuner to join our workshop team.
Based at our workshop in Oxfordshire, you will build, maintain, diagnose, and tune high-performance Porsche engines for a range of road and competition vehicles.
Supporting our Rally and Race programmes, winter driving experience, Service department as well as our Special projects team, you will play an important role in delivering the exceptional quality and performance for which Tuthill is renowned.
You'll be joining a friendly, supportive, and highly skilled team in a fast-paced and rewarding environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Build/rebuild, diagnose, tune, and sign off Porsche road and competition engines to the highest standards.
- Support the maintenance and development of engines across our road car departments, Motorsport programmes, and Below Zero Ice Driving fleet.
- Strip, clean, inspect and assess engine components, identifying faults and carrying out appropriate repairs.
- Perform engine testing, running diagnostics and performance evaluations.
- Attend and support race and rally events worldwide when required.
- Maintain high standards of workshop organisation, presentation, and equipment maintenance, ensuring defects are reported promptly.
- Work in accordance with Company health and safety standards, reporting any concerns or risks as they arise.
- Comply with Company policies and procedures and support other departments as required.
What We're Looking For
- Strong engine-building knowledge and technical expertise.
- Excellent problem-solving and fault-finding skills, with the ability to resolve issues efficiently.
- A strong understanding of carburettor tuning and set-up.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a close-knit team.
- Self-motivated, organised, and capable of working independently.
- Proactive, adaptable, and calm under pressure.
- Flexible in approach, with a willingness to support the needs of the business, including occasional additional hours when required.
- A positive attitude and good sense of humour.
Experience Required
- Proven experience building and rebuilding performance engines.
- Experience with Porsche engines would be a significant advantage.
- Experience rebuilding and tuning carburettors would be beneficial.
- Relevant automotive, motorsport, or engineering experience.
