You will join a small specialist claims team handling complex and high-profile Employers’ Liability and Public Liability claims within the public sector.

  • Claims Handling / Technical
    • Handle first notifications of loss (EL disease and PL abuse/social care claims)
    • Investigate and review historic policy coverage
    • Set up new claims and issue acknowledgements
    • Act as a key contact with panel firms and progress towards managing an in-house caseload
    • Review reports and draft responses seeking instructions
    • Conduct trial reviews and provide recommendations on litigation strategy
  • Regulatory / Compliance
    • Respond to ELTO tracing requests on a weekly basis
    • Maintain the accuracy of the Employers’ Liability Register
    • Complete monthly ELTO accuracy checks
  • Policy & Technical Analysis
    • Undertake policy investigations and reviews
    • Prepare Policy Cover Sheets summarising policy history
  • Financial & Administrative Support
    • Enter payments on in-house files
    • Maintain workflow data and file records
    • Draft meeting minutes and reports
    • Provide general administrative support to the claims team
  • Team Support
    • Support Claims Managers and the Assistant Claims Manager
    • Assist with wider claims and operational tasks as required
  • Exposure
    • Panel solicitors and complex litigation strategy
    • Run-off insurance work
    • Structured training, including support towards CII qualifications

Qualifications and Skills

  • Graduate (preferably 2:1 or above in Law or a related field, though exceptional candidates from all backgrounds will be considered)
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills
  • Good IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to engage effectively with stakeholders (policyholders, solicitors, colleagues)
