About the team Turo is redefining car rental, and we’re looking for an experienced Fraud Prevention Specialist to join our European Trust and Safety team and lead Fraud Prevention across UK & France. Responsible for the end-to-end management of Trust & Safety verifications, fraud prevention, and chargeback management, you will conduct sophisticated investigations, manage regional vendors, and collaborate with global teams to tailor fraud detection rules and workflows. This is a hands-on, high-impact role at the heart of Turo’s European team. You will manage fraud and risk prevention for the UK and France delivering robust protections against financial and physical risk. You will ensure that every guest is verified, every payment is secure, and every incident is investigated to prevent future loss. What you’ll do
- Identify emerging fraud and theft patterns in the UK and French markets, and configure our machine learning tools to proactively block these threats.
- Review transactions and accounts in real time to detect and resolve fraudulent activity, including identity theft, payment fraud, and account takeovers.
- Lead high-value or complex fraud investigations using SQL and advanced data methodologies.
- Partner with Global Fraud Teams, Engineering, and Data Science to align regional needs with global roadmaps and risk controls.
- Onboard regional vendors and conduct Quality Assessments on BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) fraud reviews.
- Oversee chargeback reviews and proactively identify gaps in operational controls to reduce financial losses.
- Prepare and present insights on emerging risks and program performance to senior leadership.
Your profile
- Minimum of 5 years in fraud prevention, risk management, or chargeback management, ideally within e-commerce or banking.
- Proficient in SQL for data analysis and identifying fraud patterns.
- Exceptional verbal and written skills, with the ability to act as a subject matter expert for Legal, Claims, and Operations teams.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
- Proficient with G-Suite, Microsoft Office, or related software.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with the flexibility to work bank holidays or outside standard hours when necessary to protect the platform.
Bonus if you have
- Experience in a two-sided marketplace or a related e-commerce platform with a focus on peer-to-peer interactions.
- Certified Payments and Fraud Prevention Professional (CPFPP) or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) Credential or other advanced fraud training.
- Familiarity with tools such as Sift, Stripe, Ekata, TraceIQ and Domo.
For this role, the target base salary range in London is £52,000 - £65,000 annually. This role is also eligible for equity and benefits. In general, our ranges reflect the market-based target for new hire salaries based on the level and location of the role. Within the range, individual pay is determined by objective factors assessed during the application and interview process, such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule — Turists will be expected to work in the office 3 days per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
