Job Overview As an Electrical Machines Design Engineer, you will lead the design and development of cutting‑edge mechanical systems that push the boundaries of performance, reliability and innovation.

Key Responsibilities In this role the Electrical Machine Design Engineer will be responsible for the following: Support the design and optimisation of both the radial and the axial flux electric machines, including topology selection, sizing, optimisation and performance prediction Conduct thermal analysis to ensure the motor performance, reliability and cooling efficiency Perform electromagnetic, thermal and structural FEA using industry standard tools Support drawing creation, prototype builds, testing and validation activities through multiple development phases Work closely with mechanical, manufacturing and control teams to ensure seamless integration produce detailed design reports, specifications, and technical documentation Support research into new materials, motor concepts and advance cooling concepts, and manufacturing improvements Identify the opportunities to enhance motor performance, cost, manufacturability and efficiency Involvement in the creation of project plans, with input to technical delivery, time plans and budgeting Supporting the Quality department in investigations and inspection activities as well as assisting with improvements to company processes/procedures including manufacturing Supporting the product team with the development of market analyses and gaining insights into customer needs.
The Requirements Strong understanding of electromagnetics, electric motor physics, and thermal behaviour.
Proficiency with finite‑element analysis tools such as Ansys Maxwell, Ansys Mechanical, Siemens, JMag, and Motor CAD.
Ability to interpret test data and correlate findings with simulation results.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills Ability to work effectively within a multi‑disciplinary team and manage multiple projects concurrently.
Ability to create technical documentation and presentations.
Qualifications A degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering at a minimum of 2:2 classification is required.
A Masters or Ph D in a relevant discipline is desirable.
Relevant experience could also be considered.
Bonus Points It would be beneficial (but not essential) if in addition to the above you also had: Experience in electromagnetic motor design Experience with Axial flux machines Experience in high volume manufacturing Directly relevant design experience Experience working within a manufacturing environment Proven experience in electric motor design, ideally high-performance, high-power density motors Experience with prototype build phases or within a manufacturing environment Experience working with and managing external suppliers Understanding of power electronics and motor control fundamentals Experience with Failure mode analysis Experience with DFMEATurntide Technologies is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
