The Opportunity
Turnitin is looking for an experienced Enterprise Data Architecture & Governance Lead to help define the future of how we use data to run our business. Over time, our reporting capabilities have evolved across multiple functions including Finance, Revenue Operations, Product, HR and Engineering. Whilst these capabilities provide value locally, they have developed independently, resulting in inconsistent metric definitions, fragmented ownership and varying levels of confidence in enterprise reporting. This role represents a unique opportunity to shape Turnitin's enterprise data strategy by establishing the foundations for trusted, scalable and decision-ready information. Working closely with executive stakeholders across the organisation, you will assess our current environment, define a practical target state and provide a roadmap that enables future execution.
What you’ll do
- Assess Turnitin's current reporting and analytics landscape;
- Identify the root causes of fragmented reporting and conflicting metrics;
- Define ownership and governance principles for critical enterprise data;
- Develop a high-level target-state architecture for enterprise reporting and analytics;
- Establish standards for enterprise metric definitions and trusted reporting;
- Recommend an operating model that balances enterprise consistency with functional autonomy;
- Produce a practical roadmap for future implementation and investment;
- Facilitate alignment across executive and business stakeholders.
What success looks like
By the end of the engagement, Turnitin will have:
- A shared understanding of its current data landscape;
- Clear ownership of priority enterprise metrics;
- Improved confidence in Executive and Board reporting;
- A pragmatic governance framework;
- A target-state blueprint for enterprise reporting and analytics;
- A prioritised roadmap for implementation.
What we’re looking for
We're seeking a pragmatic enterprise data leader who is equally comfortable engaging with executives and technical teams. You'll bring experience in areas such as:
- Enterprise data architecture and governance;
- Analytics and reporting governance;
- Executive and Board reporting environments;
- Metric definition and stewardship;
- Cross-functional stakeholder management;
- Data quality and reporting controls.
Experience in SaaS, subscription businesses or distributed analytics environments would be highly advantageous.
Why join us
This is an opportunity to define how an established global SaaS organisation measures performance and makes decisions. You won't simply be building dashboards. You'll help shape the principles, governance and architecture that underpin trusted enterprise insight across the business.
Qualifications
Required Experience
- 10+ years of experience in enterprise data governance, architecture, analytics governance, or enterprise reporting controls.
- Experience operating across Finance, Sales, Revenue Operations, HR, Engineering, Product, and Business Intelligence functions.
- Strong understanding of data lineage, data quality controls, source-system reconciliation, data transformation processes, and reporting controls.
- Experience supporting Executive, Board & Investor Reporting.
- Experience defining governance frameworks, ownership models, and metric standards.
- Demonstrated experience facilitating cross-functional agreement on enterprise metric definitions and ownership, particularly in environments where multiple functions have independently built reporting capabilities and no shared standard exists.
- Experience designing operating models for enterprise data functions, including roles and responsibilities, decision rights, escalation mechanisms, governance forums, and resourcing requirements to sustain an ongoing data governance capability.
- Familiarity with privacy considerations relating to the use of customer and employee data.
- Strong stakeholder management and facilitation skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong documentation, process design, and executive communication skills.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in SaaS, subscription, EdTech, or other data-intensive technology businesses.
- Familiarity with sales, bookings, ARR, pipeline, retention, customer, usage, and financial reporting data.
- Experience working with Salesforce and related GTM data structures.

- Experience supporting reporting used for Board materials, executive reviews, financial planning, or investor reporting.
- Experience designing governance models in a distributed analytics environment where multiple functions have independently developed reporting capabilities.
- Management consulting or specialist data advisory background, with experience leading multiple data governance or data strategy engagements across different client organisations.
