Overview

Recovery Workers act as \’key workers\’ to a caseload of service users, supporting them to decide their goals around treatment and develop plans to achieve these. The role includes maintaining regular contact with clients, offering advice, information and psycho-social interventions, as well as providing assessments, risk management planning and working closely with clinical staff around prescribing needs and partner agencies. A successful candidate will communicate effectively with a range of service users and colleagues, manage multiple tasks, and demonstrate a commitment to Turning Point values.

You may have lived experience of substance use, mental health issues or homelessness (yourself or a significant other), experience supporting people in health and social care, or a keen interest in supporting this group. If your values align, there is a role for you. An understanding of substance and alcohol use and the challenges and opportunities for individuals on a recovery journey is expected. We recognise transferable skills from backgrounds such as mental health, housing or other health and social care provision. Roles are varied, so flexibility, the ability to work one-to-one and in groups, and knowledge of relapse and other barriers to recovery are vital. We offer an entry level pathway through the Trainee Recovery Worker program for those without all relevant experience. Our learning culture encourages staying up to date with developments in the field to drive service improvement.
