Turning Point, working in partnership with Mind in the City, Hackney and Waltham Forest and Antidote, provide the City and Hackney Recovery Service which works with local residents concerned about their drug and alcohol use. The service works across each of City and Hackney's neighbourhoods to be accessible, local and inclusive. The fully integrated service contributes to recovery, social inclusion and improving the quality of life of all our service users in the City of London and Hackney borough. It aims to be shaped by the community needs and voices of service users, carers, families, communities, all staff and volunteers.

As a Team Leader, you'll have the chance to make a real difference to the lives of the people we support who are experiencing difficulties from drugs and alcohol use, leading a team to work with them to develop the personal, flexible and realistic support packages they need to help turn things around.

Responsibilities

  • Managing a busy team of recovery workers supporting individuals in treatment.
  • Providing line management to a number of staff and supporting them to provide high quality psychosocial interventions.
  • Building and maintaining excellent relationships with local and national organisations to support the work of the service.
  • Working closely with other managers and staff from teams across the service.
  • Ensuring high quality performance of staff within your team and achievement of key performance indicators.

Qualifications

  • Proven track record in relevant area.
  • In depth knowledge of relevant theory and practice.
  • Experience of supervising a team.
  • Management of HR related processes in line with HR policies.
  • Experience of working towards achieving individual and team objectives.
  • Numeracy, literacy and IT skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, and ability to adapt communication to suit the audience.
  • Good time management and ability to work to deadlines.
  • A participative leadership and management style in normal circumstances.
  • Strong organisational, time management and prioritisation skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and resilient in high pressure environments.
  • In depth knowledge and understanding of the complex and multiple needs faced by the service user group.
  • In depth knowledge and understanding of the Valuing People framework.
  • A demonstrable belief in a values‑led approach to working with service users with a Substance Misuse issue.
  • Demonstrable track record that is DANOS compliant.
  • Knowledge and experience of developing, implementing and reviewing substance use‑related interventions, i.e. group work programmes.
  • A sound working knowledge of current legislation (e.g. Models of Care) and the ability to translate this into practice.
