As an Advanced Recovery Practitioner within the Criminal Justice, Women and Families and Carers team, you will make a real difference to the lives of people experiencing difficulties from alcohol and substance use. You will work with a team to develop personal, flexible and realistic support packages to help change outcomes. This role requires experience and passion for working with alcohol and substance users and an understanding of regulatory requirements within the service. Partnership working is essential; you will build and maintain relationships with local and national organisations and work closely with managers and staff from teams across the service. Exceptional organisational skills are essential for this pivotal role in a busy environment.
Responsibilities
- Carry a designated caseload of service users with complex needs, including mental health, long‑term conditions, criminal justice, offending behaviour, homelessness, motivational interviewing, safeguarding and family work.
- Conduct assessments of need and risk, formulate risk‑management plans and recovery plans that recognise the personal recovery goals of the service user.
- Partner effectively with any multidisciplinary team and other agencies, coordinating multi‑agency meetings when appropriate.
- Deliver interventions underpinned by a strong evidence base.
- Participate in clinical and complex case meetings and present cases orally and through written reports.
- Support the learning and development of Recovery Workers, Trainee Recovery Workers, Peer Mentors, Volunteers and Students, providing specialist input into multidisciplinary meetings.
- Provide mentoring and coaching to staff to support their development and standards of care.
- Be known as a specialist within the service (e.g., substance use and mental health, homelessness/complex needs, domestic abuse, mental capacity).
- Ensure achievement of key performance indicators relevant to your role.
- Deliver internal learning events and represent Turning Point nationally in your specialist area, if required.
Ideal Candidate
- Actively participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and service meetings, offering support, guidance, and chair meetings in the absence of the Team Leader.
- Deputise for the Team Leader during planned and unplanned absences.
- Act as a subject‑matter expert for colleagues, offering support and advice through training, development sessions, coaching and mentoring.
- Undertake case‑file audits collaboratively with Team Leaders for Recovery Workers, providing mentoring and feedback to support practice improvement.
- Observing group and 1‑to‑1 sessions of colleagues and provide feedback to support practice improvement.
- Allow Recovery Workers to shadow and observe your practice to support their learning and development.
