Learning Disability Support Workers wanted in Bolton! Are you willing to advocate and be a voice for adults with learning disabilities? Do you want to work somewhere where every day is different? Are you flexible, adaptable and able to think on your feet in difficult situations? Do you have a passion for supporting people to live their lives to the fullest? Do you have excellent communication skills, the ability to read non-verbal cues and the understanding that all behaviour is communication? This opportunity is to join our team who support four fantastic individuals in their own flats and out in the community. The people we support live with Autism, Learning Disabilities and Challenging Behaviours, and they require specialised support and consistency with every aspect of their life. You must hold a valid UK Drivers License for this role.

Shifts: This is a 24-hour service, therefore flexibility is essential. You will be working a range of shifts from 8:00am to 3:00pm, 3:00pm to 8:00/9:30pm, sleep ins or waking nights, some weekends. We use a digital social care record system, to support daily recording, which will make your day-to-day tasks easier and allows you to spend more time with the People We Support.

Role Responsibility: This is a hands-on job in which no two days are the same. Your duties will include:

  • Promoting the independence of the residents we support
  • Supporting a full range of daily activities including cleaning and cooking, days out or going away on holiday
  • Developing residents' life skills and personal interests
  • Assisting with personal care needs and manual handling (no specific moving & handling tasks required for support other than shopping/moving items)
  • Supporting residents with medication
  • Ensuring record keeping is maintained to the required standard at all times and contributing to service monitoring requirements

The Ideal Candidate: Whilst knowledge of learning disabilities would be beneficial, it isn't essential. What is essential is that you are:

  • Passionate, caring, proactive and enthusiastic
  • Patient, calm and non-judgemental
  • A great team player with lots of energy
  • Someone who can follow routines and guidelines that meet the needs of the people we support
  • Someone who understands that all behaviour happens for a reason
