This is an operational lead position within the leading prison drug and alcohol service in London, based within HMP Thameside. It offers a rare opportunity to work in a highly visible, innovative and ambitious service committed to delivering excellence across recovery, treatment, psychosocial interventions, partnership working and reducing drug‑related harm within the prison and community.
The role sits alongside an experienced, passionate and demanding Operations Manager who expects high standards, accountability and professionalism from the team.
Responsibilities- Manage operations in partnership with the Operations Manager, ensuring high standards, accountability and professionalism.
- Deliver and enhance the drug and alcohol service, meeting NHS Model of Care and POF Data standards.
- Coordinate care pathways, including CoC pathways, and advocate for service users.
- Communicate effectively with Local Authority commissioners, NHS teams and other stakeholders.
- Oversee IT/data management, ensuring compliance with all workplace legal requirements and regulations.
- Lead, motivate and develop the team, fostering energy, resilience and creativity.
- Represent the prison drug and alcohol team at local and national forums.
- Proven operational leadership experience within substance misuse, criminal justice, healthcare or custodial settings.
- High competence in IT and data management.
- Knowledge of NHS models of care, POF data and CoC pathways.
- Ability to communicate with LA commissioners and comply with workplace legal requirements.
- Demonstrated resilience, accountability and advocacy for service users.
