We are looking for an experienced Transport Operations Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of our transport function at our Padeswood site. This is a key leadership role, acting as the link between LGV drivers, central planning, and maintenance teams, while ensuring full compliance with transport legislation and company standards. You will be named as the Transport Manager on the company's Operator's Licence for this site and play a vital role in maintaining a safe, compliant, and efficient transport operation. This position reports to the Distribution Manager West.
Responsibilities:
- Resource planning to ensure efficient and compliant transport operations
- Acting as the main point of contact between LGV drivers, central planning, and maintenance teams
- Proactively managing driver and fleet compliance
- Overseeing general transport office administration
- Managing disciplinary processes, attendance, and absence in line with company policies
- Ensuring compliance with Transport and Working Time Directive Regulations
- Supporting continuous improvement across transport operations
Desirable (but not essential):
- Bulk tanker operational experience
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years First Line Management (FLM) experience in a unionised transport environment
- Comprehensive, working knowledge of Transport and WTDR legislation
- Strong administrative skills, with proficiency in Excel
- Confident communicator with the ability to manage people and processes effectively
- CPC National qualification
- Experience with transport planning and planning tools
- LGV C+E licence (no driving duties required, but driving experience is advantageous)
- IOSH or NEBOSH General Certificate
