You are an experienced project controls professional (infrastructure or real estate) who wants to enhance client enterprises; transforming their approach to portfolio‑programme‑project management (P3M) by implementing software solutions.

We have developed a Digital Controls cloud technology platform that embeds T&T’s ways of working for project controls (as described by our Cube methodology) into software applications for portfolio, programme and project management.

The platform integrates various P3M and project controls software, ultimately producing status and performance reports; providing insight and driving action to help our clients control and deliver their ever more complex portfolios of work.

Our Digital Controls team focusses on the strategy, set‑up and/ or transformation of capital portfolios and programmes for public and private sector clients enabling the successful delivery of major programmes both in the UK and internationally.

We are seeking to recruit talented individuals at consultant/ senior consultant/ principal consultant grades, who feel their experience and capabilities could support Digital Controls transformations for our clients.

On joining, you will get the opportunity to work across several high‑profile infrastructure projects, supporting the team to successfully deliver business transformation and Digital Controls advisory services covering strategy, set‑up and optimisation of specific project management and project controls & performance functions or project/ programme/ portfolio management offices (PMO).

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the assessment of each client environment and their current challenges and support in utilising our structured approach to discover, develop and deliver a Digital Controls solution that is fit for purpose and enables the client to achieve desired outcomes and associated benefits;
  • Lead development, implementation and optimisation of project controls & performance related strategies, functional set‑up and optimisation;
  • Implement our Digital Controls platform to enable an optimised project controls & performance operating model;
  • Deploy established P3M methodologies, processes, tools and systems, tailoring these to suit specific circumstances and contributing to their continuous improvement and development;
  • Continuously improve our Digital Controls platform and advisory services;
  • Produce reports to support findings and recommendations across various stages of client engagements;
  • Deliver workshops in a mix of virtual and face‑to‑face environments with client representatives;
  • Work within diverse and multi‑disciplinary teams representing Turner & Townsend at both client sites and as well virtually;
  • Participate in various business generation activities such as bids, proposals, etc. and work closely alongside senior management and the wider Turner & Townsend team;
  • Identify, contribute to and progress business generation opportunities where appropriate;
  • Support marketing and social media campaigns (employee advocacy) where appropriate.
  • Required Experience and Qualifications
  • Graduate calibre with relevant industry experience;
  • Experience of leading the development of project management or project controls & performance business processes and the specification or configuration of Digital Controls solutions;
  • Experience of working on capital projects/ programmes covering multiple project controls functions (scope, schedule, cost, risk, performance reporting) in the infrastructure sector (rail, aviation, highways, utilities, defence, nuclear) or similar;
  • Understanding of strategy and set‑up of target operating models and organisational design in the context of capital infrastructure delivery businesses, integrated project controls & performance functions or PMO set‑ups would be advantageous;
  • Experience of business transformations and associated change management activities;
  • Familiarity with supporting capability/maturity assessments across the capital delivery businesses, PMO, project controls & performance or a specific function;
  • Literacy in office productivity software applications (e. g. Microsoft Office and Teams or similar) and diagramming tools such as Visio, Lucid Chart or Draw. io;
  • Analytical mindset; being a confident data manipulator and presenter (SQL, Power Query/ Power BI, Tableau, Qlik etc. advantageous);
  • Experience with specialist project management or project controls & performance software in one or more of the following categories:
  • Activity planning, scheduling & Critical Path Analysis (CPA): Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Power Project, Open Plan;
  • Portfolio, project and contract management (cost & change management): Eco Sys, PRISM G2, Cobra, Unifier;
  • Experience with writing/ presenting reports and the ability to navigate through complex stakeholder environments and engage (as required) with senior stakeholders in client teams;
  • Familiarity with coding and the principles of modern computer system architecture advantageous;
  • APM, PMI or similar certification or equivalent experience would be advantageous.
