We have exciting opportunities for Associate Directors to join our expanding team. Following significant growth and ongoing delivery success, we are looking for high calibre leaders to support our clients on a wide range of high‑profile infrastructure projects, to be an industry leader, and to mentor and develop the next generation of Project Managers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead business initiatives and manage a broad range of projects and programmes across the public and private sectors, including aviation, highways, rail, environment, utilities and more.
  • Manage multiple disciplines, teams, advisors and clients on infrastructure projects/programmes across their entire lifecycle, demonstrating proven, demonstrable success and a capacity to challenge and set strategy.
  • Set high performance standards, manage performance against these standards and utilise people and resources efficiently to meet and exceed stakeholder expectations in ambiguous and challenging environments.
  • Lead and be accountable for the health, safety and wellbeing of those within your sphere of responsibility, applying a practical understanding of CDM across teams.
  • Anticipate client challenges, devise applicable solutions and innovatively address them, ensuring sustainability in all outcomes.
  • Promote inclusive teamwork, build and foster trust with empathy, and instil a ‘one‑business’ collaboration mindset within Turner & Townsend and across clients.
  • Foster client and industry partnerships, developing and growing long‑term relationships.
  • Use leadership and influence to bring the company’s purpose and vision to life, expanding your impact.
  • Coach and mentor others, encouraging the development of people around you, and maintaining a thirst for learning to advance best practice and nurture emerging potential.

  • SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, and must be adhered to where applicable.

Required Experience and Qualifications

  • Significant experience managing multiple disciplines / teams / advisors / clients on infrastructure projects/programmes.
  • Excellent leadership skills with capability to set high standards and manage performance.
  • Practical understanding of CDM and ability to apply it appropriately across teams.
  • Client‑focus and a deep understanding of stakeholder needs to provide sustainable solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder‑management skills.
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguous and challenging environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor and influence to grow others’ potential.
  • Proven commitment to inclusion and diversity.
  • Relevant professional qualification (degree level or equivalent) and professional affiliation with APM, ICE or equivalent.
  • Project management certification (e.g., APM, PRINCE2, MSP, ChPP).
  • NEC accredited or other appropriate contract knowledge.

Beneficial Experience

  • Complex and multiple forms of procurement and managing NEC or other form contracts.
  • Experience managing contractors, consultants and other advisors on infrastructure projects in differing environments, ideally multiple sectors.
  • Consultancy and/or client‑side project management experience.
  • Familiarity with public sector organisations, non‑departmental or arm’s length bodies relevant to infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with sustainability and application to projects/programmes.
  • CSCS or equivalent safety qualification.
  • Sustainability qualification (e.g., Carbon Literacy).
  • Soft‑skills / leadership certification.
