Our client is a market leading global distribution company in the outdoor sports and activities sector. With a long established history and a current turnover of £40 million, the business is looking to increase by 15 – 20% year on year. With the current Finance Director moving into a more commercially focused MD role, the business is looking to succession plan by appointing a new Head of Finance with the aptitude and ability to further develop into the Finance Director role.

The Role:

  • Management of the team of 8 staff (2 direct, 6 indirect) ensuring the efficient running of all financial processes for the business.
  • Debt compliance reporting, to include:
    • Maintenance and update of rolling 13-week cashflow forecast
    • Monthly KPIs
    • Monthly Invoice Financing reconciliations
    • Preparation of consolidated monthly Group management accounts to include commentary and insightful analysis
    • Oversight of the audit and statutory accounting process
    • Assisting the Commercial Director with board reporting
    • Annual budgeting & quarterly/monthly reforecasting; working with all key stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely inputs
    • Development and management of relationships with external advisors (lawyers, auditors, banks, insurers, etc.)
    • Oversight of all statutory compliance (VAT, duty, corporation tax, PAYE/NI etc.)
    • Responsibility for the accurate completion of the monthly payroll, and supporting HR in management of employee benefits
    • Improvement of systems, processes and controls

Who you are:

  • Qualified / Part Qualified accountant
  • Good level of familiarity with IT systems; knowledge and experience of D365 Business Central desirable
  • Good knowledge of Excel
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Experience of working in small to medium sized businesses essential with experience of working in a debt-funded environment
  • Team management experience with demonstrated coaching, mentoring, empowering and inspiring
  • Good people and communication skills
  • Driven with the ability to work autonomously and manage time effectively, planning own workload and setting appropriate objectives and deadlines
