As a part of our team, you’ll receive a structured development plan tailored to introduce you to the technical and commercial competencies that are the stepping stones to success at Turner & Townsend. A dedicated Development Manager will be your guide, providing support and ensuring you’re on the right track. Our learning approach goes beyond traditional ‘on-the-job’ training. You’ll benefit from a blend of technical and behavioural training, learning from both peers and experienced professionals. This comprehensive approach equips you with the knowledge and skills you need to excel.

Kickstart your Building Surveying career with our comprehensive placement. Designed specifically for graduates, this Industrial Placement programme is up to 12 months long and provides you with the opportunity to work with market leaders and specialists in their field who will share invaluable knowledge and experience with you. As part of our Real Estate department, you'll spend 12 months immersed within our building surveying teams, gaining hands-on experience in a wide range of building surveying disciplines. This includes exposure to dilapidations, technical due diligence, development monitoring, and project management, working with a variety of property types and sectors.

During your placement year as a Building Surveyor, you will be responsible for a range of tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Conducting building inspections and surveys
  • Preparing detailed reports on building condition and defects
  • Assisting with the preparation of cost estimates
  • Communicating with clients and stakeholders
  • Supporting project teams in the delivery of building projects

Qualifications:

  • Academic Credentials: You will need to be studying a RICS accredited degree in Building Surveying (achieved or on track for a 2:1 minimum).
  • Technical Acumen: An understanding of the technical aspects of building surveying, coupled with a genuine interest in the real estate and built environment. Candidates must be studying towards an undergraduate degree and be required to complete a 12-month industrial placement as part of their course, returning to university on completion of the placement.

This role is primarily office-based, and colleagues are expected to work from the office for the majority of the working week. Candidates must have the legal right to work in the UK. For some regional roles, travel to client sites may be required. Where access to client locations is limited by public transport, a full driving licence and access to transport may be beneficial. To be considered for roles in the Defence arena, you will need to pass both a Baseline Personnel Security Standard check and UKSV SC clearance. This process will begin once you’ve accepted an offer and confirmed your willingness to undergo the checks.
