About the Defence Infrastructure Cost Centre: We support projects of varying complexity and size, offering services in Programme and Project Management, Planning, Cost Engineering, Risk Management, and Commercial disciplines. Our support spans the full project lifecycle, from pre-contract to post-contract, for infrastructure projects ranging from hundreds of thousands to over Β£200M. We are expanding our team due to client demand and seek talented individuals to support our Defence client portfolio and develop their careers on complex, challenging projects.

Please note: Due to project sensitivity, applicants must be SOLE UK Nationals eligible for UK MoD Security Clearance (SC). Existing SC clearance is advantageous but not mandatory. If you believe you are suitable, please apply.

We are seeking a Risk Professional to join the Defence North team, supporting projects across the UK, primarily from the Midlands, Cumbria, North East to Scotland, with opportunities elsewhere. The team consists of over 40 members, with a central office in Manchester and team members based across the North. This role requires experience in project or programme environments within Defence, Nuclear, Infrastructure, or Construction industries. Knowledge of Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA) is a plus. You will work closely with clients, often onsite or in our offices, up to 60% of the time, with flexibility based on needs.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Risk Identification & Assessment: Conduct workshops to identify threats and opportunities, analyzing their impact on project scope and objectives.
  • Strategic Risk Mitigation: Develop and implement risk management strategies to minimize disruptions and support project stability.
  • Risk Register & Reporting: Maintain risk registers, produce and present risk reports to communicate threats, opportunities, and actions effectively.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage with project managers, clients, and leadership to align risk strategies with business goals.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Use risk analysis tools and QRA models to assess project exposure and inform contingency planning.
  • Process and Procedure: Create risk and opportunity management plans aligning with industry standards.
  • Risk Workshops & Training: Lead sessions to promote risk awareness and proactive management within teams.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in project/programme environments within Defence, Nuclear, Infrastructure, or Construction sectors.
  • Proficiency in developing risk management frameworks, ideally aligned with ISO31000.
  • Experience with risk management software such as ARM, @Risk, Safran, Primavera Risk Analysis, etc.
  • Ability to conduct Quantitative Risk Analysis and generate insightful reports.
  • Understanding of project controls disciplines including cost, scheduling, and change management.

Desirable Skills:

  • Familiarity with project life cycles in relevant industries (e.g., RIBA, GRIP).
  • Relevant qualifications like APM Project Risk Management Certificate, IRM qualifications, etc.
