Overview

Due to increased opportunities in our Energy & Natural Resources division, we are recruiting a senior Project Controls Manager to lead cross‑discipline teams and deliver effective, consistent project controls services across complex nuclear programmes. Candidates will be required to be present in our client office in Sizewell or Ipswich three days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross‑discipline teams of project controls professionals to deliver robust and effective project controls services and continuous improvement.
  • Define and implement project controls approaches across project, programme and portfolio levels to enable effective decision making.
  • Design and implement effective governance and assurance processes around project controls products.
  • Adhere to NEC or FIDIC contract processes for management of project controls data and deliverables.
  • Work with the client to develop relevant breakdown structures, support scope definitions and produce project controls products with the client’s professionals.
  • Define scalable, tailored and integrated approaches for project controls and document these in a Project Control System Definition.
  • Define scope through identification and management of exclusions, assumptions, interfaces, and dependencies, and coordinate scope decomposition.
  • Collaborate with the Integrated Project Team to establish a robust, accurate Performance Measurement Baseline and manage the change control process.
  • Collaborate Project and Commercial Management to establish supplier project controls contract requirements and integrate supplier performance data.
  • Ensure scope, cost, risk and schedule integration and alignment, analyse performance data to provide delivery insight.
  • Train and coach client team members on performance and reporting management processes.
  • Assure quality, accuracy and integrity of the project controls team’s output.
  • Undertake line‑management activities including career development and performance management.
  • Communicate with Senior Management to deliver updates on performance management within a complex programme environment.
  • Guide the team on appropriate use of systems and tools such as Primavera P6, Power BI, Excel.
  • Embrace challenges and opportunities to make positive change for the client.

Qualifications

  • Senior professional experience in multiple project controls disciplines (Planning, Cost Estimation, Cost Management, Risk Management or Reporting) across one or more sectors across the whole project lifecycle.
  • Strong knowledge and proficiency with various project controls specific software packages; can coordinate and work with other teams.
  • Strong communicator and leader capable of influencing, motivating, coaching and developing a diverse and inclusive team.
  • Will be able to obtain BPSS level security clearance.
  • Member of a relevant professional body (e.g., Association for Project Management, Project Management Institute).
  • Practical experience integrating project controls disciplines and assessing team maturity.
  • Experience using project controls software such as Primavera P6, Active Risk Manager, Ecosys.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to make risk‑based decisions where parameters are unclear.
  • Strong leadership skills with ability to mobilise, inspire and lead by example.
  • Strong stakeholder management experience.
  • Can navigate through conflict situations and defuse tension.
  • Desire to work within the nuclear sector.
