Project Controls Manager – Defence
Turner & Townsend is looking for an experienced Project Controls Manager to support our Defence client portfolio. The role will involve managing controls across infrastructure projects in South East and wider areas, leading programme controls functions, and ensuring accurate cost, safety, environment, and performance reporting.
Key Deliverables
- Deliver project controls across infrastructure projects in the South East and wider regions.
- Lead the programme controls function for a programme, monitoring for accuracy and consistency of plans, cost, safety, environment and performance reporting, and deploy controls team resources effectively.
Other Responsibilities
- Review new project proposals and remits to develop realistic, resourceable plans for programme delivery.
- Identify resourcing requirements to support the programme and liaise with planning functions to resolve resourcing issues.
- Provide an efficient day‑to‑day service to Programme and Project Managers in reporting on plans, costs, safety, environment and programme performance.
- Monitor data entered by project teams and others to cost and performance systems to meet required data standards.
- Manage the production of the Investment Plan and comply with the Investment Competence Framework.
Qualifications
- Have a degree in a relevant technical or management field or suitable equivalent qualifications and experience.
- Member of a relevant professional body (e.g. Association for Project Management, Project Management Institute).
- Ability to make risk‑based decisions where parameters are unclear and judgement is needed.
- Adapt leadership style depending on the audience and be flexible in uncertain situations.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to mobilise, inspire and lead by example.
- Strong stakeholder management experience.
- Competent in using the software needed to perform the role.
Security Clearance
Before applying, you must be a sole UK national who can achieve and maintain UK MoD Security Clearance (SC). Existing SC clearance is desirable but not mandatory.
Working Arrangements
Turner & Townsend offers hybrid working. You will be expected to be on client sites or the office 60% of your time, though this may flex depending on client and business requirements.
