The National Security & Defence Infrastructure Cost Centre supports defence projects with a range of services including programme & project management, cost engineering, risk management, and commercial disciplines.
We are looking for a Senior Cost Controller (Senior Project Controls Engineer Grade) to join our Defence North team. The role involves controlling costs on high‑profile infrastructure programmes and collaborating with a strong cost‑control community.
Key Deliverables- Tailor cost‑control approaches to meet client needs and best practice.
- Promote the benefits of cost control within the project and programme teams.
- Implement, administer, and maintain cost‑control systems to track budgets, commitments, expenditures, and forecasts.
- Develop project Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS) and align budget phasing with Work Breakdown Structures (WBS).
- Map cost estimates to Work Packages and ensure correct budgeting.
- Maintain relationships with finance, commercial, and project managers for alignment of project information.
- Lead accrual production to reflect actual cost of work performed accurately and promptly.
- Provide reporting tools and generate cost reports, including earned‑value analysis.
- Support status reporting and performance‑management decision‑making.
- Train and coach clients and junior team members on cost‑control processes and practices.
Applicants must be an SOLE UK national who can obtain and maintain UK MoD Security Clearance (SC). Many projects are subject to MoD security and trade control restrictions.
Qualifications- Demonstrable experience in cost control.
- Familiarity with cost‑performance reporting, cost forecasting techniques, and Earned Value Management (EVM).
- Experience leading cost‑control assurance activities as part of project performance cadence.
- Proficiency with MS Excel and other MS applications.
- Knowledge of cost‑control tools and NEC contracts is desirable.
- Ability to travel to client sites across the region as required.
Work will be split across client sites and Turner & Townsend offices, with an expectation of 60% on-site usage and flexibility for travel.
