Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Estimator with proven Defence estimating experience to support key Defence sector clients on a range of exciting projects and programmes.
Important: Before applying, due to the sensitive nature of these projects, you must be a Sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain UK MoD Security Clearance (SC).
Responsibilities
- Produce accurate and comprehensive estimates for projects, from Order of Magnitude to detailed estimates.
- Control and manage the estimating process at project level.
- Produce estimates independently, without direct supervision.
- Work effectively as part of a team or individually with limited supervision.
- Support the development and promotion of estimating good practice within Turner & Townsend and our client organisations.
- Assist in the achievement of departmental objectives.
- Stay abreast of developments within your technical area to provide best‑practice advice.
- Contribute to integrated Project Controls teams.
- May include SOX control responsibilities where applicable.
Qualifications
- Qualification in Estimating, Quantity Surveying or Cost Engineering.
- Experience working in the Defence sector.
- Demonstrable experience in compiling, assuring and delivering complex estimates and cost models.
- Experience with integrated Project Controls teams on public sector projects.
- Excellent and flexible skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with client‑facing experience.
- Membership of a relevant professional body with chartered status and/or a degree level education (preferred).
- Experience in early‑stage estimating for complex or major Defence infrastructure programmes (preferred).
- Familiarity with industry‑standard estimating software packages (preferred).
