You will be involved in delivering:

  • Expert Witness services, assisting our delay experts in delivering delay reports for adjudication, litigation and other dispute resolution forms;
  • Recovery services, assisting our contract and commercial specialists in providing strategic advice to clients whose projects and major programmes are in commercial distress.

As an Associate Director you will work in a team undertaking detailed analysis of construction projects in the UK and internationally; establish yourself as an expert and support the strategic objectives of our Recovery and Expert Witness teams; lead on high-standard reports that can withstand scrutiny by other parties.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Require a forensic and exploratory mindset;
  • Have strong knowledge of the construction industry;
  • Understand construction contracts and the law;
  • Value transparency and collaboration;
  • Work independently where required and adapt to others’ working methods.

The role is based in Manchester, England, with travel limited to complex projects. It offers remote working flexibility and a base in a local office to support UK team cohesion.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant construction and engineering industry experience (10+ years);
  • A construction-related or legal degree qualification;
  • Experience leading the pursuit of claims up or down the supply chain with successful negotiated resolution;
  • Ability to understand and articulate client requirements and desired outcomes;
  • Critically analyse project and major programme performance, identifying root causes of distress;
  • Develop a contract and commercial strategy to recover performance of distressed projects or programmes in line with client outcomes;
  • Effective stakeholder management and chairing meetings with clients and advisors;
  • Review and assess contemporaneous project records to establish delay for claims and/or disputes;
  • Critically analyse strengths and weaknesses of client claims and provide strategic advice on proceeding or amending claims;
  • Assist clients, lawyers and counsel in developing positions where required;
  • Support and lead the drafting of detailed expert witness reports for formal dispute resolution proceedings;
  • Stay abreast of developments within your technical area of expertise;
  • Provide direction to staff working on specific tasks;
  • Support the interface with clients and other consultants throughout project stages;
  • Act as an ambassador championing Turner & Townsend’s contract services within the industry.
