The Defence Infrastructure Cost Centre supports projects of varying complexity and size. Our service offering spans Programme & Project Management, Project Planning, Cost Engineering, Risk Management and Commercial disciplines. We manage the full project lifecycle both pre‑contract and post‑contract, delivering infrastructure projects worth from several hundred thousand pounds to programmes over £200M. We are actively expanding due to client requirements and are looking for talented individuals to support our Defence client portfolio and develop their careers on a range of challenging commissions.
Applicants must be a UK national and able to obtain and maintain UK MoD Security Clearance (SC). Existing SC clearance is desirable but not essential for a strong candidate.
Role Overview:
- Join the Defence North team as a Project Manager, supporting our clients in delivering construction infrastructure projects and programmes across the North of the UK and beyond.
- Lead end‑to‑end service delivery for Project Management commissions.
- Manage key client accounts and develop new and existing relationships.
- Support delivery of major commissions with responsibility for service delivery aspects.
- Control commercial aspects, including monthly budgeting, forecasting and project budgets.
- Manage schedules and wider project elements.
- Ensure projects meet time, cost and quality targets.
- Support clients’ transition to Net Zero and wider sustainability changes.
- Build long‑term trusted advisor relationships.
Qualifications:
- Degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject.
- Professional qualification: APM, PMI or Prince 2.
- Experience managing NEC or JCT contracts and their practical application.
- Project management experience across a range of disciplines and sectors.
- Familiar with project planning software such as Primavera or Microsoft Project.
Desirable:
- Experience working with UK Government and Tier 1 organisations, particularly Defence.
- NEC PMA accreditation and proficiency in contract management software such as CEMAR.
- Construction and infrastructure sector experience in regulated environments (RIBA).
- Bid management experience.
- Full membership or working toward full membership of a chartered body (MAPM, MCIWEM, MICE, MCIOB, MRICS).
- Experience coaching junior Project Managers.
Security Clearance:
Applicants must be a UK national who can achieve and maintain MoD Security Clearance (SC).
Working Environment:
We offer hybrid working with flexible office and site attendance. Anticipated client site or Turner & Townsend office presence is 60% of time, with travel flexibility depending on client and business requirements.
