Due to increased opportunities in the Energy & Natural Resources division, we are recruiting Project Managers during a period of significant growth. Our nuclear client is at the forefront of industry‑leading change, and we seek individuals with experience managing large or complex projects. Candidates must be present in our client office in Warrington for 3 days per week.

Main Purpose of Role

Lead Project Management Commissions, taking responsibility for end‑to‑end service delivery on large or complex projects. Provide support on major Project Management Commissions, taking responsibility for an aspect of service delivery. Ensure that client objectives are met and that projects are delivered to time, cost targets and appropriate quality standards.

Scope

Project Managers handle commissions of varying scale and value; depending on project complexity and sector, projects could be significant. Candidates should be comfortable delivering small to medium complexity projects independently with minimal oversight, while accessing the broader team expertise.

Key Accountabilities

  • Advising at a strategic level at project inception, providing advice on approaches to achieve client objectives.
  • Preparing and maintaining definitions of project requirements.
  • Establishing overall success criteria, including time, cost, technical and performance parameters.
  • Establishing effective project governance, processes and systems throughout the project.
  • Preparing and maintaining project schedules, producing the master project plan.
  • Managing development of the project in accordance with approved plans and targets.
  • Developing and implementing resource plans and procurement of resources.
  • Leading and facilitating the overall cross‑functional project team.
  • Monitoring and applying performance management techniques, including KPI use to improve performance.
  • Managing the change control process.
  • Developing and agreeing budgets, controlling forecast and actual costs.
  • Managing flow of project information between team and client, through regular meetings and written communications.
  • Identifying and monitoring project risks, planning and implementing mitigations.
  • Preparing formal project progress reports and other reports.
  • Leading interface with client, other consultants and managing stakeholders at all stages.
  • Advising client on Health & Safety and Environmental issues and risks.
  • Planning for and ongoing management of quality, safety, health and environment issues.
  • Staff management (where appropriate) – input into management of Assistant Project Manager or small team, resource management and attendance at junior staff appraisals.
  • Knowledge management – ensuring key information and learning are input into Turner & Townsend internal database.
  • Process improvement – identifying and acting upon ways to improve internal systems and processes.

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in a relevant discipline.
  • Working towards a professional qualification (MCIOB / APM or similar).
  • Proven experience managing HT&M projects, ideally in a consultancy environment.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise more than one project at a time.
  • Capable of obtaining BPSS level security clearance.
