Turner & Townsend is one of the leading consultancy providers to the Infrastructure and Defence sectors and we have a thriving UK Estimating team making the difference for a large number of clients both in the UK and Overseas. We are now looking for a talented Senior Estimator with proven Defence estimating experience to work with a number of our key Defence sector clients.
Our team delivers a wide range of estimating outputs for our clients, to support their decision making, including:
- Estimate / cost model production (from Order of Magnitude through to detailed estimates)
- Estimating assurance
- Major programmes estimating strategy
- Commercial data & benchmarking
Responsibilities
- Supporting leadership or managing the production of accurate and comprehensive estimates for projects/programmes
- Playing a supporting role in the development and promotion of estimating good practice within Turner & Townsend
- Playing a supporting role in the achievement of departmental objectives
- Supporting bids for new work
- Acting as a role model for less experienced staff
- Staff management (where appropriate)
- Supporting development and promotion of estimating best practice
- Staying abreast of developments within own technical area of expertise to give best practice advice in line with business objectives
- Actively helping the development of Defence Estimating across the business
Qualifications
Essential:
- Qualification in Estimating, Quantity Surveying or Cost Engineering
- Experience of working in the Defence sector
- Demonstrable and proven experience in complex estimates and cost models and their delivery
- Working within an integrated Project Controls team
- Experience on public sector projects
- Excellent and flexible skills in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience of working in a client‑facing environment
Preferred:
- Membership of a relevant professional body with chartered status or a degree level education
- Experience in early stage estimating in complex or major Defence Infrastructure programmes
- Familiarity with industry‑standard estimating software packages
