Job Description
Turner & Townsend is a leading consultancy provider to the Infrastructure and Defence sectors with a thriving UK Estimating team that supports major clients both in the UK and overseas. We are looking for talented Estimators with proven Defence estimating experience to work with a number of our key Defence sector clients on a wide variety of exciting projects and programmes.
Our team delivers a wide range of estimating outputs to support client decision‑making, including:
- Estimate / cost model production (from Order of Magnitude through to detailed estimates)
- Estimating assurance
Responsibilities
- Production of accurate and comprehensive estimates for projects in a timely and efficient manner.
- Control and management of the estimating process at project level.
- Produce estimates without management or supervision.
- Work independently or as part of a team with limited supervision.
- Support the development and promotion of estimating good practice within Turner & Townsend.
- Represent Turner & Townsend within client organisations to promote estimating best practice.
- Assist in the achievement of departmental objectives.
- Stay abreast of developments within the technical area of expertise to provide best practice advice.
Qualifications
- Qualification in Estimating, Quantity Surveying or Cost Engineering.
- Experience of working in the Defence sector.
- Demonstrable experience in compiling, assuring and delivering complex estimates and cost models.
- Experience working within an integrated Project Controls team.
- Experience on public sector projects.
- Excellent and flexible skills in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience in a client‑facing environment.
- Preferred: Membership of a relevant professional body with chartered status or a degree qualification.
- Experience in early‑stage estimating for complex or major Defence Infrastructure programmes.
- Familiarity with industry‑standard estimating software packages.
