Role Overview

Due to increased demand across the Energy & Natural Resources sector, our North West team is expanding and looking to appoint experienced Risk Managers / Risk Leads to support a major nuclear programme. Candidates will be required to be on‑site in Warrington three days per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, assess and manage risks and assumptions across projects and programmes of varying scale and complexity.
  • Plan, design and implement risk management processes tailored to client needs, aligning with best practice.
  • Facilitate risk workshops with subject matter experts.
  • Create and maintain risk registers and other risk information.
  • Challenge risk information to enhance the quality and robustness of risk data.
  • Drive implementation of mitigation actions across projects and programmes.
  • Assist the project team with the development of measurable and specific management responses to support post‑mitigated positions.
  • Conduct Quantitative Risk Assessment and analysis (QRA) for cost and schedule impacts.
  • Demonstrate competence with tools such as Safran, @risk, PRA or similar.
  • Produce timely risk reporting using Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Power BI; familiarity with web‑based database/reporting tools (ARM, Xactium, Predict, Tableau) is preferred.
  • Collaborate with other Project Controls disciplines to maintain alignment of project information.
  • Work with the supply chain to incorporate supply‑chain related risks.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Professional risk‑management experience across the project lifecycle.
  • Experience in regulated or capital‑intensive industries; nuclear experience is desirable but not required.
  • Ability to adapt risk strategies in response to change and deliver complex risk information to stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with risk‑management systems such as Safran, @risk, PRA.
  • Strong analytical and research skills, with strategic awareness and critical thinking.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Stakeholder management experience.
  • Experience working within a Project Controls team.
  • Desire to work within the nuclear sector.
  • Will be able to obtain BPSS level security clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Risk Management, Finance, Business Administration or a related field (desirable).
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., Institute of Risk Management (IRM), Association for Project Management).
  • Familiarity with a risk standard or approach (ISO31000, APM, Orange Book, IPA).
  • A risk qualification (e.g., APM Risk Certificate Level 2 or Management of Risk) is desirable.
