Principal Consultant - Business Case & Project Finance Full-Time in Glasgow

Job Description

Our project finance and business case advisory team supports clients in developing, implementing, and optimising procurement and funding strategies for greener and sustainable fit to meet Net Zero targets.

• Understand the factors influencing major programme set up, development and delivery at different stages in the programme lifecycle, with an emphasis on business case development and major infrastructure development using private capital.
• Use experience and knowledge to assess business challenges, develop optimal solutions and implement them.
• Deploy established processes, tools and systems, tailoring and improving them as needed.
• Use strong interpersonal, communication and influencing skills to support the adoption and realisation of business outcomes.
• Present ideas and outputs clearly, concisely and engagingly.
• Operate confidently as part of a multi‑disciplined team providing holistic professional advisory services.
• Accountable for the quality of work and delivering excellent client care.
• Share knowledge and experience with colleagues through communities of practice, social media channels and workshops.
• Identify and progress business‑generation opportunities where appropriate.
• Flexible to travel when restrictions are lifted.
• SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, when applicable.

Qualifications

• Masters or MBA qualification or equivalent experience is advantageous.
• Experience in project finance and/or business case development preferably in de‑carbonisation and Net Zero.
• Experience working with the public sector, managing transactions/projects with a public sector delivery setting across a range of sectors and organisations.
• Understanding of the latest UK policy guidance on economic benefit assessment, including social value, community benefits and low‑carbon transition.
• Experience in technologies and services in de‑carbonisation and Net Zero, ideally hydrogen, electric/zero‑emissions and hybrid transport infrastructure, batteries (including storage), and carbon capture and storage.
• Broad experience in renewable energy, transport, water services, defence, government services is viewed favourably.
• Understanding of the concept of project finance and the role private capital plays in infrastructure development, particularly de‑carbonisation and Net Zero.
• PPP/PFI experience (including PFI handback).
• Effective management experience within a multi‑stakeholder environment.
• Capability as an influencer within commercial/procurement environments, with the flair to leverage commercial opportunities and grow client relationships as a trusted advisor.
• Robust and methodical analytical skills, adaptable and a team player.
• Excellent communication skills including active listening, presentation and written communication.
• A natural gravitas in dealings with clients, with a “making the difference” approach and an enquiring mindset.
• Prepared to define and lead bid proposals, working closely with senior management and the wider Turner & Townsend team.
