We are seeking an experienced Digital Delivery Manager to support the delivery of complex projects and programmes across the Defence sector. This is a broad delivery role suited to a versatile professional who can operate across project management, programme coordination, delivery management, operational management and business analysis, adapting their approach to the needs of each Defence assignment.

You will work with Defence clients, delivery partners and multidisciplinary teams to create clarity, establish effective delivery controls and translate operational and business needs into practical plans and outcomes. Depending on the engagement, you may lead a defined project or workstream, coordinate activity across a wider programme, improve operational delivery, or help shape and prioritise requirements for digital and data-enabled change within secure and regulated environments.

The successful candidate will be digitally and data literate, comfortable working with technical and non-technical colleagues, and able to operate effectively in complex Defence stakeholder environments. Extensive experience in digital, data or transformation delivery is highly desirable. Previous experience in Defence, National Security, Secure Government or a comparable regulated sector would be advantageous, although strong candidates with relevant transferable delivery experience will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead or coordinate delivery across projects, programmes, workstreams or operational services, maintaining a clear view of scope, outcomes, priorities, plans, resources and dependencies.
  • Work with Defence clients and stakeholders to understand operational and business problems, define objectives and translate requirements into practical delivery plans, products, services or process improvements.
  • Create and maintain proportionate delivery controls, including plans, governance, reporting, risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies, decisions and change control.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and delivery partners, remove blockers and maintain momentum towards agreed outcomes.
  • Facilitate the identification, capture, validation and prioritisation of business and user requirements, ensuring traceability through delivery and implementation.
  • Support the design and delivery of digital, data and reporting solutions by connecting business users with analysts, architects, engineers, product specialists and change professionals.
  • Define measurable outcomes, benefits, performance measures and success criteria, using evidence to support decision‑making and demonstrate value.
  • Plan and coordinate implementation, transition, adoption and business change activities so that new capabilities are embedded into operational use.
  • Build trusted relationships with senior Defence stakeholders, provide clear and evidence‑based advice, and communicate delivery challenges, trade‑offs and recommendations in an accessible way.
  • Support operational management by improving ways of working, clarifying roles and processes, monitoring performance and driving continuous improvement.
  • Provide collaborative and inclusive leadership, setting clear direction while coaching, mentoring and enabling team members to take ownership.
  • Support client relationship development, mobilisation, proposals and wider capability growth where appropriate.

Please note: The role will support projects in the Defence sector and may require regular attendance at client sites and travel to Defence locations within the United Kingdom, depending on assignment requirements.

QualificationsEssential

  • Demonstrable experience delivering change through one or more of the following disciplines: project management, programme management, delivery management, operational management or business analysis.
  • Experience coordinating multiple activities, teams or workstreams and maintaining a coherent view of priorities, plans, dependencies and outcomes.
  • Ability to create structure from ambiguity, work independently and maintain delivery momentum within a complex stakeholder environment.
  • Demonstrable digital and data literacy, including the ability to work confidently with technical specialists and understand how technology, data and reporting support business outcomes.
  • Experience eliciting, analysing and prioritising business or user requirements and translating them into clear delivery objectives or workable solutions.
  • Experience establishing proportionate governance and managing risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies, decisions and change.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence senior, technical and operational audiences.
  • Experience defining outcomes, benefits, measures or performance indicators and using them to support decision‑making and continuous improvement.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams and, where relevant, multiple suppliers or delivery partners.
  • A collaborative, accountable and adaptable approach, with a willingness to coach colleagues, share knowledge and improve ways of working.

Desirable

  • Substantial experience delivering digital transformation, data-enabled change, software implementation, product or service delivery, or technology-enabled business change.
  • Experience working in Defence, ideally within the Ministry of Defence, the Armed Forces, a Defence prime or the wider Defence supply chain. Relevant experience in National Security, Secure Government, critical national infrastructure or another secure and regulated environment would also be valuable.
  • Experience operating across both embedded client assignments and outcome‑based project or programme delivery.
  • Knowledge of Agile, product-led, waterfall or hybrid delivery approaches, with the judgement to apply methods proportionately.
  • Experience supporting data governance, information management, reporting, analytics or digital adoption.
  • Commercial awareness gained through consulting, client delivery, supplier management, mobilisation or proposal development.
  • Relevant professional accreditation in project, programme, Agile, product, business analysis, service management or change delivery.

Security Requirements

Applicants must hold UK Security Clearance. The successful candidate must be able to work within the security and site‑access requirements of the client programme.

Why Apply?

  • Take a key leadership role on key Defence programme.
  • Shape the delivery, adoption and continuous improvement of complex digital, data capabilities.
  • Work directly with senior Defence stakeholders and experienced multidisciplinary delivery teams.
  • Develop your leadership, consulting and technical delivery experience across project, programme and portfolio environments.
