Engineering Design Manager - Construction

The Real Estate team is undergoing an exciting period of growth, and we are looking for experienced and aspiring Engineering Design Managers to join our supportive team.

Our Design Managers are strategic thinkers, collaborators, and problem solvers. You'll work closely with our clients ensuring that the final product is fit for purpose, focusing on ensuring designs are buildable, compliant, innovative, and efficient. You will lead design input on multi-disciplinary projects, from early concepts through to delivery, across prestigious infrastructure projects in sectors including transportation (rail/aviation), defence, real estate, and highways.

Design Manager Roles and Responsibilities:

• Work with the Project Manager to manage the agreed contract with external design consultants.
• Manage multi-disciplinary teams of Engineers from consultants and partner companies in the production of project solutions.
• Evaluate designs and solutions.
• Collaborate with technical, operational, maintenance, and strategic stakeholders.
• Liaise with Clients, Engineering Managers, Project Managers, Contractors, and Consultants concerning project issues, scope changes, risks, etc.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of design and management experience.
• Experience in Buildings fit out, Defence industry, and Machine integration is preferable.
• Around 5 years' experience managing design through the full project lifecycle.
• Strong understanding of integrated design delivery and managing consultant performance.
• Knowledge and experience of Building Information Modelling (BIM) and common data environments.
• Degree/HNC qualified, or equivalent, in engineering discipline (Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical).
• Passionate about construction and customer satisfaction.
• Strong practical knowledge of construction work types, methods, and design solutions.
• Experience with CAD (AutoCAD or Revit).
• Excellent communication skills.
• Self-driven and results-oriented with a positive outlook.
• People management, time management, and project design management skills.
