In this role you will manage quantity surveying and cost consultancy tasks across projects, ensuring budgets are met and costs are accurately tracked. You collaborate closely with clients, consultants and internal teams to drive value engineering and sound procurement. You will handle tendering, post-contract duties and final accounts, while mentoring junior staff. This opportunity lets you shape cost management on high-value projects within a global practice focused on delivering outcomes that improve lives.
Responsibilities
- Manage aspects of quantity surveying and cost consultancy including pre and post contract duties
- Produce cost estimates
- Oversee tender process, review tender returns and advise on procurement routes (two-stage NEC4)
- Attend meetings, prepare financial reports and monitor project status
- Perform cost checks and valuations on large projects to ensure timely, accurate Valuation
- Apply value engineering to keep projects on budget from design to completion
- Handle full post-contract duties: variations, final account negotiations
- Build and maintain client relationships with high professional standards
- Interface with client and other consultants at all project stages
- Support junior team members to deliver cost management services effectively
Key requirements
- Degree or Masters in Quantity Surveying or equivalent
- RICS membership or working towards it
- Experience on high-value, complex projects in a consultancy environment
- Desirable: defence, workplace, retail, commercial or mixed-use sector experience
- Strong communication, client relationship management and negotiation skills
- Commercially aware with excellent organisational skills
- Strong IT skills, including CostX and Microsoft Office
- Excellent numeracy and ability to work to deadlines
- Ability to work independently and in a team; prioritise delivery
- Sox/security clearance awareness may be required
