Overview
In this Cost Engineer role you will lead cost control for energy projects within a growing Energy & Natural Resources division.
You’ll work with cross-functional teams to align time, cost, risk, change, reporting and scope, delivering robust cost data to drive management decisions.
The position supports complex programmes to meet time, cost, and quality targets while promoting best practices in cost management.

Responsibilities
- Tailor cost control approaches to client needs and best practices
- Administer and maintain cost control systems tracking budgets, commitments, expenditures and forecasts
- Collaborate with Integrated Project Team to establish PMB and support change control
- Develop CBS and align budgets with WBS to track costs
- Map cost estimates to WBS and set budgets against Work Packages and Control Accounts
- Adhere to NEC or FIDIC processes for cost data management and reporting
- Lead accruals to reflect ACWP accurately and timely
- Support change process with cost data for change notes and forecasts
- Update forecasts to ensure accurate ETC
- Coordinate cost capture, WOs, PO structure and supplier data for cost control
- Align POs with CBS to clarify Cost Performance Indices
- Validate supply chain data to improve forecasting and reporting
- Engage with management on cost control updates in complex projects/programmes
- Demonstrate leadership and develop delivery cost control teams
- Key requirements
- Professional project controls experience with Cost Engineering/Control across project lifecycles
- Strong communication and leadership capabilities; able to influence, motivate, coach and develop teams
- BPSS security clearance eligibility
- Member of a professional body (e. g., APM, PMI)
- Familiarity with cost performance reporting and forecasting techniques
- Experience leading Cost Control Assurance activities
- Understanding of Scheduling, Risk Management, Reporting, Change Control interactions with Cost Control
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to make risk-based decisions under uncertainty
- Strong stakeholder management and conflict navigation
- Desire to work in the nuclear sector
