Turner & Townsend are currently recruiting for an exciting opportunity in the delivery of Building Safety Act compliance for our clients. You will act as the Building Regulations Principal Designer (BRPD), managing design compliance, and provide expert Client Advisor services for a range of projects, including both High-Risk Buildings (HRBs) and non-HRBs.
Building Regulations Principal Designer Delivery
- Fulfil the statutory duties of the Building Regulations Principal Designer as defined in the regulations.
- Plan, manage, and monitor design work so that the design, if built, complies with all relevant Building Regulations.
- Ensure effective coordination, cooperation, and communication between designers and other duty holders (Client, Principal Contractor).
- Compile and maintain necessary compliance documentation appropriate for the project size and complexity and in accordance with company procedures.
Client Advisor Services
- Provide expert and strategic advice to the Client on their statutory duties under the Building Safety Act 2022 and associated legislation.
- Assist the Client in making suitable arrangements for planning, managing, and monitoring projects to ensure compliance.
- Advise on the suitability, competence of other proposed duty holders and on the adequacy of project resources.
Compliance, Reporting, and Liaison
- Liaise directly with the Client, Principal Contractor, and (where applicable) the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) for HRB projects.
- Compile and deliver regular reports to the Client detailing design compliance status, identified risks, and project progress against building regulation requirements.
- Manage and coordinate the preparation of information for regulatory submissions and building control/building safety regulator applications.
Qualifications
- Degree in architecture, engineering, construction management or related discipline.
- Demonstrable experience in design management and coordination.
- Strong knowledge of Building Regulations, HRB legislation and design/construction regulatory compliance.
- Strong analytical skills to evaluate design compliance and statutory risks.
- Broad understanding of building regulations, design, and construction management.
- Attention to detail, with a proactive approach to managing compliance and problem solving.
- Excellent reporting and communication skills, ensuring clarity and accountability when advising clients and working with stakeholders.
