AMCL is Turner & Townsend's global centre of excellence for asset management. For over 25 years, we have shaped asset management as a recognised discipline, combining deep sector expertise with practical delivery. Today, we are widely recognised as one of the world's leading specialist infrastructure, asset management, digital and asset information consultancies.
As part of Turner & Townsend and the wider CBRE group, we offer the best of both worlds: a specialist, agile consulting environment, where asset management is our core business; and the scale, reach and stability of a global professional services organisation, with access to multidisciplinary expertise across real estate, infrastructure, natural resources and major programme delivery.
Our purpose is simple: to help organisations make better decisions about their assets—decisions that create value for society and reduce harm to the planet.
The UK water sector is delivering its most ambitious investment cycle in decades. In AMP8 water companies must deliver major capital upgrades, reduce storm overflow spills, strengthen asset resilience and accelerate progress towards net zero. This is happening in a tighter regulatory environment, under intense public and environmental scrutiny.
At AMCL, we are at the centre of this transformation - supporting water and wastewater companies to make better investment decisions, improve asset health, unlock operational efficiencies and deliver outcomes that matter to customers and the environment.
We are looking for Senior Asset Management Consultants to play a leading role in our UK water sector frameworks. You will work directly alongside Water and Wastewater Companies, helping them navigate AMP8 delivery challenges and implement asset management frameworks aligned with Ofwat expectations, ISO 55001:2024 and whole‐life value principles. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about enabling better infrastructure decisions, enjoys working at the intersection of strategy, engineering and data, and wants to make a meaningful difference to the future of the water sector. Delivery will be a blend of secured frameworks on-site and discrete projects.
What You Will Do
- Lead High‐Impact Advisory Work
- Provide strategic asset management advice as a trusted partner and "critical friend".
- Translate complex operational, engineering and performance information into clear insights for senior decision‐makers.
- Support alignment with regulatory requirements, including asset health indicators, performance commitments and AMP8 delivery expectations.
- Deliver Asset Management Frameworks
- Lead the delivery of asset management projects, using AMCL methodologies to ensure outputs are high‐quality and delivered to time and budget.
- Embed improved asset management processes, asset information practices and value-based decision‐making frameworks with client teams.
- Undertake asset management maturity assessments using the IAM 10-box model, GFMAM and ISO standards using AMCL recognised tools and methodologies.
- Support clients with the adoption and transition to ISO 55001:2024, ensuring strong governance, lifecycle alignment and data-driven decisions.
- Drive Asset Performance & Whole-Life Value
- Lead lifecycle and TotEx optimisation activities, developing evidence‐based investment strategies and long-term plans.
- Improve asset information quality, maturity and use of analytics for value-based asset management decision making.
- Shape AMP8+ Outcomes
- Deliver AMP8 framework commitments through strategic asset planning, risk-based investment prioritisation and operational resilience improvements.
- Undertake asset management maturity assessments using the regulator endorsed methodologies.
- Develop asset health enhancement approaches that help clients move from reactive to proactive asset management.
- Contribute to Business Growth
- Support bid preparation for water sector frameworks and consultancy opportunities.
- Contribute to sector strategy development and AMCL thought leadership.
Qualifications
- 5+ years' experience within asset management, strategy & planning, reliability engineering or performance improvement – preferably within regulated sectors such as water, energy, transport or defence.
- Strong understanding of the UK water regulatory landscape (e.g., Ofwat, PR14–PR24, performance commitments, asset health measures).
- Ability to interpret asset and performance data, to inform decisions.
- Strong analytical and problem‐solving skills, with the ability to deliver practical, evidence‐based recommendations.
- Confident communicator capable of engaging with engineers, analysts and executive leaders.
- Collaborative mindset and comfort working across AMCL, Turner & Townsend and client organisations.
Qualifications
- Degree in engineering, science, business or a related discipline.
- IAM Certificate or Diploma (or willingness to work towards it).
- Experience with asset management standards and good practice (ISO 55001, GFMAM) is highly desirable.
